Last Chance Pow Wow

Alex watched her first pow wow in Helena. These cute kids were right next to us and Alex was fascinated with the 2 year old and her regalia.

11 blocks by herself!

Alex was so proud of herself. She amazes me everyday. Today she brought her blocks out to play with. To my amazement, she was able to stack them 11 high without help. Last time we did that, she could only do 7.

Cruisin' in style

Alex loves her sunglasses lately, so much that she also took a nap with them on.

Flower balloon at the farmers market

The flower balloon was $2 and Alex loved it! I was planning on spending a couple bucks at the big bouncy slides but they were not there this week. The balloon was afraid she would bite it because it is a choking hazard. This was not a problem because she thought it was "petty" and it kept occupied for some time. I definitely will be getting more in the future!

Alex and the ipod touch

The ipod has been a huge help for the car trips! I am so thankful for this device. Alex has a lovely kool- aid stain in case you are wondering.

Father's Day at the Lake

This post is a little past due but I had to make sure to post it. Alex had so much fun! We rode the 4-wheeler down to the lake and Dozer followed us. Alex could have spent many more hours throwing rocks in the water.

Cousins at the Slice of Summer in Townsend

Rylee and Alexandra had a great time at the Slice of Summer at Heritage Park in Townsend. I am amazed how much Alex has changed in the past few months. She can now climb the rock steps and go down the big slide. She also surprised me by climbing into this with Rylee in a matter of seconds by herself.

Window sills with a view

Alex loves the window sill in our bedroom. She can climb and lay on it, view a few horses from it, and watch the choo choo trains go by. She spends probably an hour a day playing on this window sill. I remember as a kid loving window sills as well.

Horsey again!

We had to go to the Watson's to pick up tables and chairs and while we were there, Daddy let Alex see the Horseys. This one was very interested in Alex and she was interested back. They sure are beautiful animals!

Easter 2011

Alex and Mom at her Grandparent's back yard in Bozeman for an Easter Egg hunt.

Alex is very proud of her eggs that she found during her first ever egg hunt at Lindley Park in Bozeman. When we put her in the car she still kept both hands on her prized possessions and would not let Grandpa touch them.

The Easter picture without the bunny. Alex would not take her Easter picture with the bunny, but she would take it without of course!

Big Bathtime... swim lessons!

Today was Alex's first swim lessons called "Aquatots" at the YMCA in Helena. She was a little scared but I think she will like it better at the next class. She has never been in a big pool before. I told her it was big bathtimes today. She did say "bathtime" many times on the way home so I am going to assume she at least sort of liked it. I have to say that I even enjoyed it myself and cannot wait to go swimming with her more often.

Happy 2nd Birthday Alexa!

A
Alex attended Alexa Hamilton's 2nd birthday this past Saturday. The theme was "Pigtails and Puppy Dog Tails" and it was adorable. There were cardboard dog houses for the kids to play in and a puppy cake. Alexa's Mom (Callie Hamilton) is  very talented at creating memorable birthdays!

Stained Glass at Church

Every Sunday at church Alex finds herself drawn to the stained glass windows. She talks to them, touches them, and licks them of course. She has been fascintated by the beautiful windows since she could walk. I had to snap a picture of her and yes it was during service but I did it quietly. I have waited months to capture this photo. No one was sitting near me so I could get away with it.

Everyone can catch Trout

This fake pond with fish is also in "The Yellowstone Room" has fish with magnets in their mouth so that kids can try to catch and relase the fish. Alex just wanted to swing around the fishing pole.

Museum of the Rockies

The new exhibit for kids called "The Yellowstone Room" is phenomenal! They did an amazing job incorporating all the wonders of Yellowstone in a kid play area. From animals made from recycled junk to fake geysers, Alex loved all of it.

The best toys are free

Alex apparently has been watching her Mom do Zumba every night and has become preoccupied with anything that shakes like her weights for Zumba do. She found some pill bottles (which makes me nervous) but they were empty luckily. To her dismay, they didn't shake so we filled them with dog food and she danced the night away shaking with Zumba-force.

Jamin' with Mom's iPod

Yeah for my little techy girl! She discovered that iPods are used for music.  Then she discovered the ear part of the head phone. We jammed all the way to Helena. She loves music and dancing.

Last sledding day for this winter

While at a sledding party at the Watson's cabin, Daddy and Alex had a great time sledding once again. Alex did not want to come inside at all. At one point she did because she had snow in her jacket, but she wanted to go back outside within a couple of minutes. She is a true outdoorsy gal!

Pigtails

I am very excited to be able to put my little girl's hair into pigtails. I love playing with her hair!

Mini merry-go-round

Yes I am one of those Moms who lets her daughter ride one of those stupid mall type rides. I thought they were fun as a child and now Alex loves them just as much! Yes it was worth the 50 cents. This one is outside of Kmart in Helena.

Pipe is fun to crawl through

Daddy's expensive culvert is a great play thing while it is not being used. Since the weather is warming up, we are exploring all the fun things in the yard. We are getting very dirty while playing too!

Zumba!

We love to Zumba together. Alex loves the beat and Mom loves the workout! What a perfect pair!

Alex put herself to sleep

Alex loves pulling the pillows off the couch and laying on the floor, but this is the first time she put herself to sleep on the floor. I hated to pick her up and move her to her crib.

Ring Around the Rosy...

This week Alex learned how to play Ring Around the Rosy and now Alex wants everyone to play with her. She even somehow got her Daddy to play. She just loves it, especially the "all fall down" part.

Storytime at the library

j
Grandma takes Alexandra to the library on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for storytime. The Wednesday class is specifically for up to 2 year olds. I was able to sneak down and view Alex sitting with some friends and enjoying. I am normally teaching during this time so it makes it hard for me to be able to come and see her. The little girl next to her is very close to her age. Since Alexa is moving to Manhattan (Montana that is) I am hoping she can meet some new friends through this library program.

Dozer is my 2nd favorite word

Alexandra loves her dog Dozer so much. Hopefully now that she is learning to play with Dozer without pulling his hair, Dozer will begin to warm up to her. Right now it is a bit of a love-hate relationship. It is hard to watch sometimes because she truly does love him very much. When she wakes up the first thing she does is ask for Dozer and wants to pet him. Dozer is getting better with her but still seems impatient. I am hoping time will bring them closer.
We also are singing lots of songs with Dozer in them such as:
"There was an Alex who had a dog and Dozer was his name-o" =)
